"Life goes by pretty fast. If you don't stop and look
around once in a while, you could miss it." (Taken from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off movie)
And the big day was here.... and
somehow we managed to have the classroom up and ready to go and we were excited
to get started. On the first day we were
welcomed by a surprise delivery of flowers from my family. (They have been so supportive through this
entire transition and the hours I have had to put in.)
The days move way too fast and
before we know it, the bell is ringing for the kiddos to walk out! Our days have been long, however. We knew the work would be immense with this
endeavor and fortunately, we both are very particular~but
in the same way! I often open the
classroom and begin my day at 6:00 am and Angie often doesn’t leave until
5:00pm. I find myself there every
Saturday and she is there every Sunday!
I think we have the weeks and hours covered. Though it is long, it is rewarding and thing
are starting to fall into place. The
assessments are a bit crazy and compiling data is getting a bit old~but data driven instruction is successful!!
We have spent the month getting to
know our fabulous kiddos! Quite the
diverse population but they are all very exciting and interesting in their own
ways!!
We spent this month learning about
the life cycle of the butterfly using Eric Carle’s book~The
Very Hungry Caterpillar. We also enjoyed
learning about apples and trying a wide variety of apple treats that parents
sent in for us. We also read nursery rhymes
and learned about our letters and words that rhyme.
We also met Zero the Hero....and the kiddos were so excited!!
